Biographical Sketch: Shawn Smith is the Director of Secure Platforms at ForwardEdge.ai, leading strategic initiatives to advance CNSA 2.0–aligned, quantum-resilient cybersecurity capabilities across critical infrastructure, defense, and national security missions.
With over 30 years of experience across cybersecurity, tactical communications, and defense technology, Shawn is a recognized leader in delivering mission-critical capabilities at the intersection of edge computing, AI/ML, and secure communications.
Shawn served 22 years in the United States Army as a Signal Warrant Officer, supporting U.S. Army Special Operations and the 82nd Airborne Division. His operational background includes expertise in satellite communications (SATCOM), beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) radio systems, and cyber warfare in contested and denied environments.
Following his military service, Shawn has driven innovation in the defense sector, including leading the implementation of early AI/ML and heuristic-based endpoint protection capabilities for a premier U.S. government anti-terrorism organization. His work helped advance next-generation cyber defense in mission-critical environments.
Prior to joining ForwardEdge.ai, Shawn served as Senior Product Manager at DTECH Mission Solutions (Cubic Corporation), where he led go-to-market strategy and product roadmap development for ruggedized tactical compute systems supporting Tier 1 and Tier 2 U.S. Department of Defense and coalition forces.
Shawn holds a Master of Science in Cybersecurity and a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, along with multiple industry certifications including Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), CompTIA Certified Network Defense Architect (CNDA), CompTIA Security+, Network+, and Certified ScrumMaster (CSM).
