IMPORTANT: After downloading the App, go to the Settings Menu, scroll to the bottom of the screen, and either take a screen shot or write down your Identification Number to save for future reference. We do not store your private information on our servers and are unable to assist you with your account without that number.

Chapter 1: Getting Started

To get the most out of Gabriel® the Robocall Blocker, ensure all permissions are enabled. Gabriel® will guide you through the Settings Menu.

The main navigation menu for the Gabriel® is located at the bottom of your screen and includes from left to right:

  • Calls – rate calls safe or unsafe, earn points for blocking spam, and view missed and blocked calls. Includes a newsfeed that shows trending security threats and new Gabriel® features

  • Summary – a weekly report of blocked calls, friends protected, and points earned

  • Points (press the Gabriel® logo in the middle of the menu) – redeem points earned for gift cards and compete in tournaments to earn more points. Includes a leaderboard. To learn how to sign up to redeem points, see section 6.3

  • Contacts – search contacts and add friends and family members to your friends or favorites list to make sure they are not blocked. Invite friends to earn 20 points

  • Settings – set call filtering strength, setup Purple Alerts to protect friends and family

Chapter 2: Calls

Every Gabriel® incoming call is verified with call authentication and checked to determine if the caller has been voted as safe or unsafe. We also verify certain business calls and display their corporate logos letting you know it is safe to answer their calls. Some businesses may offer you additional points that can be redeemed as gift cards when you answer their calls.

Other calls that have not been flagged as Spam yet will appear with the caller ID screen briefly then Gabriel® will provide an overlay to inform you the caller potential Spam.

Gabriel® Caller Identification Screen

2.1 How to Earn Points by Reporting Spam

Once you determine whether the call is safe or unsafe. Press calls on the bottom left of the home screen. This will show you your latest call log. Click the plus sign next to the call. Gabriel® will ask you to rate the call from one of three choices:

  • Spam- Reports the number to Gabriel® and helps protects other users from receiving calls from this number

  • Unsure- Gabriel® will block this number from calling you, but it will not be added to the database of known scam numbers

  • Safe- Lets Gabriel® know this is a safe number, and it will be added to your safelist.

Block Calls, Protect the Community and Earn Points

Similar to other traffic navigation apps, the Gabriel® App rewards customers with points to let us know about dangers so we can warn your community. You also earn 3 points for each call blocked. Only one vote is allowed for each phone number. The Gabriel® robot appears to let you know that all calls have been rated.

2.1.1 Adding Spoof Detection to Safe Callers

Phone number spoofing causes the Caller ID to display a phone number to make it look like the calls are from a different person. To prevent Caller ID spoofing, press the Call with Confirm button to send a deep link to your safe caller. Once the caller accepts the link, the Gabriel® app will send a secure handshaking signal between the two devices.

If the handshake is not detected, the Gabriel® App will display a Spoofed Call warning. Without the Call with Confirm feature, the Gabriel® App will display a Spoof Unknown message.

Note: to do this, you must first grant the Gabriel® App access to your contacts.

2.2 Search Our Global Database to View Safe and Unsafe Numbers

Press the call button at the bottom navigation menu. The search feature is located near the top of the screen below the Newsfeed. Enter a phone number in the search field to see if it has been reported as safe or unsafe by other Gabriel® customers. You can also rate a phone number from this menu.

2.3 Search ScamAdviser Database to View Safe and Unsafe Websites

Gabriel® is now partnered with ScamAdviser to enable users to enter a website without opening the webpage to determine if the site is safe or unsafe. The search feature is located near the top of the screen below the Newsfeed. Enter the website's URL in the search field to see the ScamAdviser's trust score.

Chapter 3: Summary

Weekly statistics inform you about the number of calls blocked, the complaints automatically filed for you, friends protected from scams, and points you redeemed for gift cards. See Section 6.3 for additional information needed to activate automatic complaint filing.

Chapter 4: Points

There are four ways to earn points:

  • Each time you report a spam call or spam text message, you earn 3 points,

  • Each time you refer a friend, you earn 20 points, and your friend earns 60 points

  • Earn an additional 100 points for every 100 reported scam calls

  • Earn 100 points for being the top user in your state.

4.1 View your points, level & rank on the scoreboard

To do this, press the Points button at the bottom menu.

4.2 Unlocking Points

Important note: to do this, a display name and valid email address are needed. See section 6.3 for more details. Each point is worth one cent USD. Points are FREE and can be redeemed for gift cards. Tap the “Redeem my points” button, you will be presented with the option for a selection of gift cards. You are not allowed to redeem more points than are available in your account.

4.3 Invite Friends and Earn 20 Points

Note: to do this, you must first grant Gabriel® access to your contacts. With Gabriel®, you earn 20 points by inviting a friend to purchase the app. To begin:

  1. Select Setting from the toolbar.

  2. Select Invite friends

  3. Your contacts will appear,

  4. Select “Invite,”

Chapter 5: Contacts

Press the contacts button at the bottom menu to add friends and family to your Safelist or local Blocklist. Callers on your Safelist will bypass the call filtering function and ring your phone. Your phone will not ring if the caller is on your Blocklist. However, if Call Filtering is turned off, all calls will ring your phone.

To add a friend to your Safelist, tap the heart button next to their name. The heart changes color to red letting you know that person has been added to your Safelist. To remove someone from your Safelist, tap the heart again. The heart changes color from red to grey. See Section 6.1 for more information about call filtering.

Note: to do this, you must first grant Gabriel® access to your contacts.

How to Add a Contact to the Safelist or Blocklist

Chapter 6: Settings

6.1 Automatic Blocking

After downloading the Gabriel® app, we recommend navigating to your Settings Menu by pressing the gear button located at the bottom menu.

Next, you must select the type of call filtering you would like. Gabriel® allows all callers in your contacts to ring your phone unless the caller is on your blacklist. However, filtering calls by favorites will block any caller not on the favorites list and this setting should be used with caution.

6.2 Purple Alerts

Note: to do this, you must first grant Gabriel® access to your contacts. By adding another Android user to your Purple Alert Favorites, you receive near real-time notifications when the Gabriel® app detects a scam SMS message targeting your friends or family.

You will not receive a Purple Alert for messages that Gabriel® has determined to be a simple nuisance or political text message. Also, Gabriel® algorithms are constantly updated. However, certain messages may be missed. Follow the instructions below to share Purple Alerts with up to six phones:

  • Press the Add People button in your Settings Menu,

  • Press the + symbol and select a friend or family member to add to your favorites list,

  • Gabriel® will send your friend a message that includes a deep link similar to the message below:

Contact your friend or family member to let them know to accept the link. Once the link is accepted, Gabriel® will send you a Purple Alert if someone on your favorites list receives a scam text message so you may call them to intervene

Note: Purple Alerts are sent as push notifications on your phone, and the Push Notification permission must be granted.

6.3 Optional Features

Unlike the central database storage of our competitors, Gabriel® leverages the decentralized nature of Blockchain making it practically impossible for a successful hack. Also, our company’s overriding policy is to collect as little user information as possible to ensure a completely private and anonymous user experience when using the product. For example, we have no technical means to associate your name, email address, or phone number with your account.

When Gabriel® asks for additional details like an email address, this information is stored on your phone and not in our database. When a Gabriel® feature requires details, the private information that you provide is used for a short period of time, and then deleted so it is not stored in a central database. Features that require such information are 1) redeeming points for gift cards, 2) automated registration in your country’s do not call list, and 3) automated complaint filing.

Optional Features to File Complaints and Redeem Points

6.4 Customer Support

Because we have no technical means to associate your name, email address, or phone number with your account, you must provide your Gabriel® Identification Number when you contact us for assistance. Your Gabriel® Identification Number is located at the bottom of the Settings screen.

Chapter 7: Detecting Spam and Scam SMS Messages

Note: to do this, you must first grant Gabriel® access to your contacts. The Gabriel® app uses your native SMS service. However, Gabriel® includes special algorithms updated daily to detect SMS scam messages, telemarketing, and other undesired messages. Gabriel® will only analyze text messages from unknown caller IDs. Gabriel® does not analyze text messages from any caller in your contacts list, whitelist, or favorites list, except when a URL is detected.

To report an unwanted SMS message, follow these steps:

  1. Press the down arrow on the Gabriel® message

  2. Press report

  3. Launch the Gabriel® app and press the report button

  4. Press send, when prompted to send the SMS message to your phone company

  5. When prompted by your phone company, enter the phone number of the caller

The Gabriel® app reports the caller to your local phone company, and also automatically adds the caller to your blocked caller list. You also will earn three points for reporting spam or scam text messages.

While Gabriel® can not block text messages from spam numbers, it can report them, block them from calling, and warn you of the potential scam.

Gabriel® Detects Dangerous Text Messages

Chapter 8: Why Gabriel® is Better

Gabriel® versus other apps is difficult to judge. No product can guarantee that 100% of unwanted calls or text messages will be blocked from reaching your phone. Thankfully, centralization versus decentralization is a very clear line separating the Gabriel® App and its competitors. Because the Gabriel® App is completely decentralized, it is practically impossible for a successful hack.

All spam blocking apps are heavily reliant on data, but Gabriel® most of all. That’s because Gabriel's entire operation is built around user-submitted information. A lot of it is collected automatically. For example, even when a call from a known spammer is blocked from ringing your phone, the Gabriel® App will automatically file a complaint to local authorities even with the app closed.

Users are also able to rate calls and report spam and scam SMS messages that may be dangerous to other members of their community. The Gabriel® App also automatically sends a notification to a friend or family member when a senior citizen or child receives a dangerous text message.

Also, instead of showing you nuisance advertisements, the Gabriel® App pays you to answer calls from trusted businesses. By doing so, we do not need your private information. Simply answer or block the call and points are immediately added to your account.

Chapter 9: How to Cancel My Service

We have no technical means to associate your name, email address, or phone number with your account. Cancel your service at any time by uninstalling the Gabriel® app from your device. We do not offer refunds. However, before you go, please let us know how we can improve our product by pressing the Provide Feedback button in your Settings Menu. Thank you for trying Gabriel®.

Chapter 10: Transferring Accounts

Transferring accounts from one phone to another is generally not possible. The App is designed to detect possible SIM Swap Scams. This is a feature designed to protect you. Because we do not store your private information on our servers, the only way for us to help you, is for you to contact customer support and provide your 16-digit Identification Number. By providing your Identification Number to Customer Support, it may be possible to transfer your account to a new phone.

In the future, an In-App purchase will be available to allow you to store your Identification Number, phone settings, and points balance to a permissioned Blockchain to facilitate account transfer.
