IMPORTANT: After downloading the App, go to the settings menu, scroll to the bottom of the screen, and either take a screen shot or write down your Identification Number. Email that information to yourself for future reference. We do not store your private information on our servers and cannot assist you with your account without that number.

We are committed to strong and meaningful privacy protections. Our Privacy Policy details the information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have about how your information is used and shared. We’ve summarized key elements of the policy here for your convenience.

  1. We store your display name in our servers, Gabriel® Identification Number, and a list of spam calls and text messages you provide to us. We also collect information about how our platform and your devices are working, including the approximate location (country and city) of your phone which is needed to determine which laws apply to our call blocking algorithms, and your country for automated complaint filing. For example, the rules for blocking calls are different in France, India, and the United States.

  2. We use the information to provide you with services, keep track of your points, and enhance your experiences with us. This includes delivering and maintaining your products, services, and your account and billing records; developing new products and services; personalizing your experiences; and filing complaints on your behalf.

  3. We share information within Forward Edge-AI, Inc. What you consider to be nuisance calls or scams is shared on a decentralized blockchain within the network to block calls to others. We do not centrally store, collect, sell, or share your whitelisted calls or contacts information.

  4. We do not collect, sell, or share information that individually identifies you, except if you opt-in below and authorize us to share your information with attorneys selected by Forward Edge-AI, Inc. for the purpose of investigating and prosecuting potential lawsuits against robocall and text scammers. Any information shared with legal counsel will be done on a confidential basis.

Our company’s overriding policy is to collect as little user information as possible to ensure a completely private and anonymous user experience when using the service. We also have no technical means to associate your name, email address, or phone number with your account.

The Gabriel® app does install a unique 16 digit Gabriel® Identification Number on your device to help us troubleshoot bugs and issue scam alerts to our users. Your Gabriel® Identification Number can be found through the device metadata menu by tapping the gear icon.

Example of a Gabriel® App Account. Forward Edge-AI only stores your Gabriel® Identification Number, Display Name, and Points you Earned on our Servers.

The following permissions are required to use this app (Android users):

  • Telephone make and manage phone calls.

  • SMS send and view SMS messages

  • Call logs read and write phone call log.

  • Microphone record audio

  • Contacts access your contacts.

Use of Your Personal Data

SMS or MMS

The Gabriel® app uploads your SMS Log on the device to scan text messages for SPAM content and notifies you, and people you designate as a caregiver under "Purple Alerts" about the SPAM or possible SMISHING attacks the Gabriel® app detects.

How it works: The Gabriel® App analyzes and filters SMS or MMS messages from unknown senders only. The Gabriel® App does not analyze SMS or MMS messages from senders in your Contacts or Favorites list. When a suspicious message is detected, a notification is automatically sent to our PlayFab backend server, and a “Purple Alert” notification is generated to notify people you have designated as a Favorite in your contacts list. The Purple Alert notifications is also sent to us for analysis. The notification sent to us includes the original SMS or MMS message content, as well as the date and time, approximate location of your device, and caller identification of the unknown sender. The message content and notifications are stored in our PlayFab server for up to three years and then destroyed.

What do we do with your SMS or MMS information?

If you provide the Gabriel® app access to your SMS, the software analyzes SMS messages from unknown senders only. If the software on your phone detects a scam or spam call, the Gabriel® app provides you an alert and also notifies someone you designated as a caregiver (Favorites). We also receive that notification and a copy of the SMS message on our servers along with the Caller ID of the sender. That information is used to train and update our algorithms to detect new scams.

Tapping the report button sends the SMS message directly to your telephone carrier and adds the Caller ID to your local Block list. The SMS messages sent to our servers may be stored in our databases for up to three years. Gabriel® does not analyze, send, or store SMS messages received from senders in your contacts list. Only messages from unknown senders are processed.

Gabriel® reads your contacts to create a safe caller list and allow them to ring your phone. The Gabriel® App also uses your contacts to create a call log and display the caller’s name in our user interfaces. See below. Gabriel® will not function properly without access to your contacts list.

Gabriel® Call List and Call Rating System

Call Logs

We do not store call log data on our servers, except if you hit the frowny face spam button, the caller ID of the caller is sent to our servers. Tapping thumbs down will nominate that caller ID for Global Blocking. However, the Caller ID is not added until a sufficient number of complaints have been received against that Caller ID. Gabriel® does not analyze in-coming calls or text messages from people in your contacts.

Audio Recordings

If you provide the Gabriel® app access to your microphone, the software analyzes live calls to determine if the call is a voice phishing attack. Only callers who are not in your contacts is analyzed. The software automatically deactivates if the caller is in your contacts, or if you are in a state or country that requires approval by both parties in order to record. For example, in the United States, there are 13 states that require two party consent.

If the software determines that call is scam, the audio recording is sent to our central server where the voice of the caller is automatically compared to our database of known scammers. If there is a match, a complaint is automatically submitted to eConsumer.gov.

Contacts Data

The Gabriel® app reads your contacts to create a safe caller list and allows them to ring your phone, create a call log, and show the caller’s name in the user interfaces. Gabriel® also uploads your Contacts List on the device and not in our servers, to enable you to establish a Safelist of callers, Purple Alerts list, and Blocked callers list. Purple Alerts notifications are sent from your device to our server and the Contacts you have selected to receive notifications. Gabriel® will not function properly without these permissions.

When you choose the optional invite friends feature, Gabriel® also uploads your Contacts List to send a deep link invitation to each Contact to purchase the Gabriel® app. Both you and your Contact earn points.

The Spoof Detection feature uploads your Contacts List on your device, to send a deep link invitation to your Safe Callers in order to send a pre-call notification to verify the caller’s device and prevent spoofing.

Data Retention and Deletion Section

For Caller IDs nominated as a spam or scam call, the Caller ID information may be retained in our database for three (3) years. For Caller IDs that have been confirmed as spam or scam by our algorithms or manually by our staff, the Caller ID is reported to the Federal Communication Commission and eConsumer.gov. The Caller ID is then maintained in our Global Blocklist until the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) deems the Caller ID is safe by adding the number to the Reassigned Numbers database and then it is automatically removed from our system. Please see: https://www.fcc.gov/reassigned-numbers-database

We may retain other information that is not personally identifiable for backups, archiving, prevention of fraud and abuse, analytics, or where we otherwise reasonably believe that we have a legitimate reason to do so. We may not know if you have stopped using our Services, so we encourage you to contact us at [email protected] and provide your Gabriel® Identification number if you have questions.

We may retain certain call data such as audio recordings of a reported scam for up to three years. However, we do not retain the associated metadata and will not be able to identify a specific audio recording, nor will we be able to identify the caller.

Data Safety Section

We use various efforts intended to safeguard the security and integrity of personal information collected through our services. Despite these measures, however, we cannot guarantee that information will be absolutely safe from interception or intrusion during transmission or while stored on our system, or otherwise, and you provide information to us at your own risk.
